About Ashram

Sri Chakra Sri Vithya Peetam Ashrama Mahasamsthanam is a Hindu Temple or Hindu Monastery that practices the teaching of Advaita Vedanta through Sri Vithya Tradition, a Hindu religious system devoted to the Goddess Shakti.

The Peetam is situated in Sungai Wey, Petaling Jaya, Selangor Malaysia. This Peetam, was established as a registered society by His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Shankara Satchithanandhendra Saraswathy MahaSwamiji. He is the present Peetathipathy or Madathapathy of the Peetam.

Meanings

“Sri” means prosperity, auspiciousness, and divinity. The word Vithya or Vidya can be defined as the worship of a God or Goddess. Literally, Vidya means learning; it is originated from the root word “vid” meaning “to know”. Knowledge is called Veda, and learning is called Vidya.

In the concept of Sri Vidya, the Sri Chakra, also called Sri Yantra (means sacred instrument) is a diagram formed by nine connecting triangles that surround and radiate out from the central (bindu) point. It represents Goddess Shakti in her form of Lalitha (means She Who Plays) Tripurasundari, (the beauty of three cities). Lalitha Tripurasundari is one of the ten goddesses of Hindu belief, collectively called Dasha-Mahavidyas. She is the highest aspect of Goddess Adi Shakti, Parvati or Durga.

Form of Worship

The worship of the Sri Chakra is central to the Sri Vidya system of Hindu worship. In this practice, Sri Chakra is worshiped as the Mother Herself or another idol (of Mother) is worshiped along with Sri Chakra.  All the Upacaras or offerings are done to the Sri Chakra as well.

Accordingly, in Sri Chakra Sri Vithya Peetam, Sri Navasakthi Kamatchi Ambal, a beautiful form of Goddess Shakti with 32 arms(world's first Aathi Parasakthi) is worshiped together with the Sri Chakra. The other idols in the shrine are Sri Kaanchi Kamatchi Ambal, Sri Periyaachi Ambal and other forms of God such as Sri Aanjineyar and Sri Karuparswamy who are also worshiped by devotees in the Peetam.

The great Guru Sri Sankara Bhagavatpada, the key idol of the teaching of Advaita Vedanta alongside with the great Saint Shirdi Sai Baba is also worship in the Peetam.

Objective

Sri Chakra Sri Vithya Peetam is formed with a distinctive intention to educate, guide and align Hindu practise of Sanatana Dharma. Sanatana Dharma means "eternal dharma" or "eternal religion". This is believed to be the native name for Hinduism, thus it can be defined as Hindu Dharma.

Apart from educating the dharma, fostering unity among all diverse sects and lineages is key to align Hindu believes and norms.

While protecting and preserving the sacred Vedas in the Hindu religion, rectifying misconception and misinformation about Hinduism is also one of the goals of this Peetam.

Its prime focus is on the younger generation to strengthen the knowledge of Sanatana Dharma and to live the path to attain self-realisation, ensuring the future generations are focused in leading a happy and successful life.

Swamiji is ever open to welcome anyone and everyone who seek to gain knowledge on the principles of life as stipulated in Hindu Dharma and for those who are just eager to know more on Hinduism. The knowledge is shared with the intention of guiding and educating and therefore there are no charges imposed. Nevertheless, followers are allowed to give their “Guru Dakshina” by voluntarily offering services or contributions to the Peetam.
